Arne Slot Insists He Is Secure and Has Liverpool's Support After PSV Eindhoven Loss

The Liverpool head coach acknowledged that it's expected for doubts to be raised about his future after a further convincing loss versus PSV Eindhoven.

The Reds endured their ninth defeat in twelve games, representing the team's worst streak since being relegated in 1953-54.

They were dominated by the Eredivisie champions on a punishing night at their home ground.

“I'm confident, things are alright, I have got a lot of support from above,” Slot stated.

“It would be great to turn it around and earn three points of course but if you are coaching a team and struggling then it's typical that people question you.”

He added, “I accept my situation. It is not the first time I've found myself in a tough spot but it is about time that we turned it around.”

Conversations with The Board

When asked to provide details on his conversations with the Liverpool hierarchy, Slot explained:

“We communicate frequently. They are helpful for the squad and for me and we have those conversations but they don’t call me every single minute each day to say they trust me.”

He further stated, “During our regular conversations we have I feel the confidence. However I haven’t spoken to them since this defeat yet so let’s see.”

Persistent Problems and Squad Reaction

The manager lamented familiar shortcomings from his Liverpool side in their European defeat, specifically poor finishing and leaking goals.

Meanwhile, player Jones was more forthright in his evaluation of the team's situation.

“I haven't got the answers. Frankly, I don’t. I’m saying that to everybody,” the midfielder remarked.

“It’s just not good enough. I don’t even need to wait to reflect. I’m past feeling anger inside. I’m at the point now where I just don’t have the vocabulary.”

He added, “It’s hard because I’m playing for the club I love. I’m a fan, and I've watched this club all my life.”

“In recent memory, I haven’t experienced a Liverpool team enduring a phase like this with outcomes like these.”

Jones concluded, “But we still have that badge on our chest. And until it is taken away, we'll continue to fight.”

“We’re going to try to help the side back to the top, prove once more what this club is about and the reason it's called the greatest side in the world.”

“At this moment, we're in trouble and it needs to change.”
