A Heartfelt Farewell: Cary Elwes Recalls His Director
Posting on social media, actor Cary Elwes, who starred in Reiner's beloved 1987 film *The Princess Bride*, explained he only now felt able to express about his personal sorrow.
"Enough time has gone by that I can finally put my grief into words," wrote Elwes, saying that his initial encounter with Reiner created an instant bond. "Once we started sharing more moments together I knew this was someone I wanted in my life."
The actor posted archival material from the production, adding that he doesn't recollect "any day without joy".
"This story is about devotion, fidelity and selflessness. Principles that Rob held dear. Which is among the many reasons he was the ideal person to helm it," Elwes wrote.
He additionally honored Michele Reiner, noting: "Asserting that they were a great team would be an understatement. My heart still aches every time I recall you." He ended with a phrase from *The Princess Bride*: "Indeed, death cannot stop true love but living is anguish without you."
Martin Scorsese Reflects on a Colleague and Comrade
In a separate essay, acclaimed director Martin Scorsese also honored Reiner, whom he first met in the 1970s.
"Right away, I loved hanging out with Rob. We had a natural affinity for each other. He was very funny and sometimes acutely humorous, but he was never the kind of guy who would command the room," Scorsese wrote.
Scorsese mentioned Reiner's acting part in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, playing the father of the protagonist.
"He could improvise with the best. He was a virtuoso at comedy, he worked seamlessly with the cast, and he comprehended the personal struggle of his character," Scorsese added.
Court Proceedings: Autopsy Reports Withheld
In a new development, a Los Angeles judge decided to prevent the publication of the Reiners' autopsy reports, after an appeal from the LAPD.
A judicial mandate placed a embargo on the investigation to prohibit the public release of "all case details, evidence and photographs" associated with the probe.
The coroner's office had already determined their deaths were the consequence of homicide, with a official listing noting the cause as "injuries from a sharp object".

Former President Donald Trump commented on the matter, providing controversial claims that were broadly criticized by many individuals.
Podcaster Joe Rogan added his criticism to the those speaking out recently. Conversing on his podcast, Rogan described the comments as "shocking" and suggested they demonstrated a troubling lack of empathy.
Rogan concluded by proposing that an aide should have stepped in when the decision to weigh in on the tragedy was made.
